Colonoscopic examination in a woman who came with the complaint of blood coming from the back passage at the time of her period shows an implant of endometriosis inside the rectum, forming an ulcerated mass lesion.

The endometrium is normally the inner layer of the womb. In the condition called endometriosis, endometrial cells can spread to places near and far.
