What to put in your message
Keep it short. This much is enough for him to give you a day:
- Your name and surname
- Your telephone number
- Your complaint, and how long it has been going on — a few sentences
The assessment happens at the consultation
By email you can reach him and get a day to come in. Email does not stand in for being seen — not as a restriction, but because a proper assessment needs it.
- Nothing is diagnosed by email. With digestive complaints the same symptom usually has several possible causes. Telling them apart takes an examination and the tests it calls for.
- Do not attach your test results — bring them with you. If you have an endoscopy report, a pathology result or blood tests, bring them to the consultation and he will go through them with you.
- A second opinion is a consultation too. Having a report read over email is not a second opinion. He needs to see you, ask his own questions, and order tests if they are needed.
- Starting, stopping or changing the dose of a medicine is not advised over email.
