A gallbladder polyp is a small growth on the inner wall of the gallbladder. Most polyps are benign and not cancer. They mostly cause no symptoms.
In some polyps, however, there can be a risk of cancer developing, depending on their size, appearance and personal risk factors.
Not every polyp needs surgery. Depending on the polyp’s features, your doctor may recommend follow-up with ultrasound or, where necessary, surgery.
