Diverticulosis means small pouch-like bulges have formed in the wall of the large bowel. It is not cancer, and most of the time it causes no symptoms at all.
Sometimes these pouches can become inflamed (diverticulitis) or bleed. A high-fibre diet, drinking enough water and regular physical activity are generally recommended.
