Stomach Cancer

In the first two pictures you see endoscopic images of an ulcerated mass. Picture 3 shows the appearance of an early cancer in the stomach.

In pictures 4 and 5 you see the mass that met us inside the stomach of a patient who came with anaemia and for whom gastroscopic assessment was asked for to investigate the cause of the blood loss. However much the smooth outline of the mass gives the impression of a soft-tissue tumour, the pathologist’s report on the biopsies taken from it came back as “adenocarcinoma”. There is bleeding, a little at a time, from the red erosion on the mass, and over months this brings the patient to anaemia.

In the last picture below you see, from inside the stomach, a cancer beginning where the gullet enters the stomach. This patient had complaints of difficulty in swallowing and of weight loss, both increasing steadily over time.
