A diverticulum is a pouch. Diverticula can develop anywhere in the digestive system, from the gullet to the stomach, the duodenum, and the small and large bowel. The causes are generally congenital (present from birth) or acquired.

In the first video you see the mouth of a diverticulum found in the fundus of the stomach (the domed part). These can be of quite varying sizes. In the second video you see a diverticulum found in the duodenum (the twelve-finger bowel). Food remains sometimes fill this diverticulum.
